The following announcement is for SMOE SPRING Hires of 2010.
Book Flights Purchase your ticket from your end and receive 1.3 million won entrance allowance from SMOE. Try your best to arrive on February 26th. If there are no flights on 26th, arrive on February 27th. A flight booking form has been emailed to you. Please fill it out and email it back to jaymlee@koreaconnections.net. Airport pickup will be provided only on the specified dates (any changes will be announced later) between 1pm and 7pm. If you arrive earlier, you will have to wait until 1pm at the airport lobby. Airport pickup is not provided for anyone who arrives on dates that are not specified.
Residence certificate If you are coming to teach in Korea for the first time and would like to apply for tax exemption, you must prepare your residence certificate (Excluding Canadians) from your country before you depart. The submission deadline is to have it submitted to SMOE prior to your first payday.
Get your Visa You will soon receive your contract and notice of appointment document (so called 'Visa Package') Fedexed to you directly from SMOE. Once received, submit required documents for visa to your nearest Korean Consulate together with your valid passport. Make a call in advance to make sure you have everything you need. It usually takes 5 business days.
Documents required for visa application. -One contact and notice of appointment you receive from SMOE -Passport -One passport sized color photo -Visa application form (download from our website) -Visa fee (Visa fees are not supported.) Some consulates might require the following: -Copy of your apostilled criminal background check -Sealed transcripts (Korean Consulates in Canada may require another set) -Copy of your notarized/apostilled or original Degree If you are located far away from the Korean Consulate ask them in advance about how mail back and forth your documents.
Meeting point at Incheon airport.
Over 100 SMOE teachers will be arriving at Incheon airport on the 26th of Feb. SMOE staff and Koreaconnection staff will be present at the airport. Upon your arrival and passing through of the arrival gates, come to Gate F in the lobby (near the telephone booth) on the same floor (do not go outside of the airport) and confirm your name to one of the Koreaconnections or SMOE staff members.
You will be escorted with all luggage straight to the orientation center by SMOE shuttle bus from the airport and will be staying at the orientation center until noon March 6th Saturday. Room and meals for the whole week will be provided by SMOE. The orientation focuses on introduction to Korean culture, the education system, survival in Korean and ESL teaching methodology, etc. You can wear semi casual clothing throughout the orientation session and there is no specified items you should bring to orientation.
Orienation center is well equipped with modern facilities such as internet access, cafeteria, etc. Your school information will be announced at the orientation.

Airport arrival & Orientation More than 100 teachers will be arriving and leaving together at Incheon airport to go to the orientation center for one week before you are guided to your designated school. Upon your arrival, you will be directly transported to the SMOE orientation center.
Dress code at Orientation Please prepare business casual. It is always good to leave a good first impression. While you may wear comfortable clothes during the orientation, we ask you to avoid wearing jeans and sneakers.
