Applying for Seoul Public School for Spring 2011.
The following information is for Seoul public school applicants only.
Required documents differ for private school applicants. If you are interested in applying for public schools outside of Seoul, refer to the EPIK application process on our homepage under 'public school' page.
Start date : 17th of February 2011.
1st round docs :
- Two reference letters (must follow guidelines)
- 'Application Form (download from our website, Go to 'download' of our homepage / or request for one to admin@koreaconnections.net ) Those applying to Seoul Public schools must submit both the EPIK Application form + SMOE attachment Form.
- A scan of your picture (jpg format)
- Scan of TEFL certificate or teaching liecense if applicable (TESOL or TEFL is mandatory for entry level teachers). You will need to be able to submit the ceritificate before the orientation.
- Sample lesson plan for 50 minute class. Lesson plans must be 2 pages long.
Interviews will begin in October until December 2011. Interviews normally run through December depending on the status of hires. However, it is best to apply earlier in the process to secure your position, as positions are filled first come first serve of whose 2nd round documents arrive first.
While you are preparing your 1st round documents, it is best to also get a head start on gathering your documents for the visa process. Once you get hired, Koreaconnections assists you with the Visa process. However, the collection and mailing is done by the applicant. If you have all of these items available, you can avoid any last minute hassles and will be ahead of the game. Here’s what you will need to prepare along the way in brief. Further detailed instructions are provided to all applicants individually, during the application process. 2nd round docs:
- Apostilled copy of Degree (BA and MA if applicable)
- Apstilled statewide criminal background check (DUI record holder will be rejected)
passport style 2 color photos
2 sets of sealed transcripts from your univeristy (BA and MA if applicable)
- Certificate of TEFL/teaching license (1 photocopy of each applicable)
- Certificate of Employment (anyone with prior teaching experience over 1 school year is required to submit evidence of employment that states the mm/dd/yy of your employment as a full-time teacher. Experience under 1 year is not valid for salary grade upgrade).
